1986 founded as a 501(c)(3) by Dr. Dyce Thurston and several St. Maries Community Members.
1988 Secured funding with the help of local banks to purchase Bethesda Care Center (St. Maries) for $750,000. Borrowed additional monies to add a dining area, 10 more resident rooms, and an office wing.
1993 First Behavioral Care Unit (B.C.U.) in Idaho built in St. Maries.
1996 A $4,400,000 expansion/construction project added an additional 14,000 sq ft, remodeled 8,000 sq ft, and a new Apartment Complex in St. Maries.
1999 Valley Vista Care Center of Sandpoint and Antelope Creek Living Center purchased. Second Behavior Care Unit (B.C.U.) created dedicated to people with Traumatic Brain Injuries (T.B.I.).
2000 Day care and learning center completed in St. Maries and Sandpoint facility remodel and expansion.
2001 Expansion of the behavioral unit and the therapy center in St. Maries.
2020 A $4 million dollar remodel and expansion project at VVCC of St. Maries completed.
2021 A $1.5 million dollar remodel of VVCC of Sandpoint facility completed.
